The island is a 10-minute boat ride from Upolu and has beach fale accommodation for visitors. There are lookouts and it takes about an hour to walk around the island. Namua gives travellers a chance to have a whole island to themselves and be completley off the grid.

The word fale (pronounced fah-leh) is the Samoan word for any type of building. A similar word is used in other Polynesian languages, similar to whare in the Maori language.<br />
