Australian photojournalist based in Melbourne

Asanka Brendon Ratnayake works for leading international news agencies and publications including Getty Images, Reuters, The Associated Press and The New York Times.

His career began in 2010 at The Sunday Leader newspaper in Colombo, Sri Lanka, before building a freelance career across Asia and Australia covering breaking news, politics, sport, social issues, travel and long-form reportage.

Working across stills and video Asanka brings more than a decade of journalistic experience to assignments, including research, interviewing, writing and news judgement. His work is shaped by context, accuracy and an understanding of how stories are told for domestic and international audiences.

His photography has been exhibited at the Museum of Australian Photography.
